John Pruente’s career began at Duke Energy in 1987, initially in the Fossil/Hydro Generation group and then seven years in the Transmission & Distribution group as the Transformer Specialist with responsibility for all aspects of transformer maintenance. His roles included: determining maintenance criteria for transformers; developing new maintenance methods and standards; failure analysis and reporting; technical support to transformer maintenance crews; troubleshooting Load Tap Changer problems in the field; review and interpretation of Doble & DGA test results; and writing field maintenance procedures. Next, John became the Director of Engineering Technical Support for the Service & Components Division of SPX Transformer Solutions and was responsible for New Product Development, and Custom Engineered Solutions. He has managed and participated in the design for all LTC retrofit projects completed by SPX transformer Solutions since June of 2008.
Johns current role is APC’s Subject Matter Expert working with our Transformer, LTC & Substation departments providing technical guidance to enhance customer satisfaction & the quality of APCs end product.
