BAYOU BOUEF & BERWICK LOCKS STONE PAVING REPAIRS
ST. MARY PARISH, LA
APC was contracted by U.S. Army Corp of Engineers to perform stone paving repairs to the Bayou Bouef and Berwick Locks in St. Mary Parish, Louisiana.
APC furnished and installed approximately 11,000 tons of 1500 LB riprap to Reaches 1, 2 and 4 at the Bayou Boeuf Lock at Young’s Road in Morgan City, and 2,750 tons of 1500 LB riprap to the Berwick Lock for final Reach 3.
The stone riprap, approximately 32″ thick with a 2″ +/- tolerance, was delivered via barge from a Missouri quarry and unloaded on site for use. Next, the riprap was loaded to a worksite barge and placed by water for all reaches utilizing a floating plant-crane on barge with dragline. Finally, the stone was placed on existing grade and final elevations were verified utilizing survey and visual inspection.
