APC Construction is a deep foundation contractor that holds itself to a higher standard. Within this very specialized service, our deep foundation division provides strong solutions to the complex soil challenges specific to the U.S. Gulf South for clients in both the public and the private sectors. Our team has spent years behind the fence line, working in secure facilities, and in marine applications continuing to perfect and refine our process.
We've worked job sites in difficult locations across the Gulf South, refining our process and strengthening our capabilities. With decades of experience delivering beyond the industry standard and beyond our clients expectations, our deep foundations projects have seen us safely and reliably deliver at all levels of the process, including:
APC has the capability to perform supplemental subsurface investigations using Cone Penetration Testing (CPT) methods with our own 20-ton capable unit. CPT is a widely used method to evaluate subsurface conditions, particularly for deep foundation design. CPT involves hydraulically pushing an instrumented probe (cone) into the soil at a constant rate. As the cone is advanced, strain gages embedded in the cone body continuously measure the tip resistance and side friction. Additionally, a piezometer element behind the cone tip measures the pore water pressure in the soil.
The collected CPT data is used to optimize existing deep foundation designs as well as to evaluate possible VE (Value Engineering) foundation alternatives such as helical piles or our patented TYGER pile system.
CPT provides the following advantages over conventional soil test borings:
