The objective of this design-build project was to provide the Agency with the flexibility to easily reconfigure their military tenants within a secure environment throughout all Wedges in the Pentagon.
This multi-disciplined, 16,300 SF design-build tenant build-out included architectural finishes as well as upgrades to all major MEP systems. In addition, this particular project required the construction of a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF).
The project comprised an all new buildout of the space to include coffered ceilings in conjunction with lay-in acoustical ceiling tile systems, as well as flooring and associated finish accessories. A modular, smart wall system was utilized in combination with traditional SCIF gypsum wall board assembly partitions to create separation of space for office, conference rooms, open workstation areas, and circulation space. This smart wall system was a manufactured partition system that also integrated power and doorways and was manufactured offsite in modular panels and erected onsite. This required extensive coordination by APC for accuracy and precise fit. As required, security measures were built-in to secure the space from adjacent occupants/tenants which dictated no shared telecommunications, secured HVAC ductwork, zero open access, no in-wall power and data provisions per SCIF, STC 50 rated doors, and secure hardware. All work was performed during regular hours within the Pentagon and required a detailed phasing plan to accommodate the existing occupants and end user.
